Low-light photography is this lens’ great strength, making it ideal for selective focus work and indoor and outdoor photography without flash, even in low-light conditions. The wide aperture of 2.8, which is large for a super-wide-angle lens, makes it possible to crop subjects against an out-of-focus background. This results in a particularly beautiful contrast between the razor-sharp main subject and the selective blur in the surrounding area. It has also been designed for the special requirements of filmmakers and videographers.

Designed for the best
For the best possible optical performance of the lens, the light flow has been specially optimised based on the ratio of the lens glass to the position of the sensor of Sony cameras. The high quality 14 mm 2.8 lens has a compact design despite its solid metal body.

High quality optics
The inner workings of this lens consist of 14 glass elements arranged in 10 groups. This allows for a close focus distance of only 25 cm. 3 aspherical lenses reduce chromatic aberration and aberrations, ensuring high imaging performance. This is noticeable in sharp images with crisp contrasts and natural colours. The construction is rounded off with a multi-layer coating that prevents reflections and ghost images.

Advantages of a full-frame lens on a camera with an APS-C sensor
Save time in post-processing. A lot of lens aberrations like distortion, edge blur or vignetting occur on the outer areas of the image. If you use a lens calculated for full format on a camera with an APS-C sensor, these areas are not used. This way you get the maximum quality. Additional post-processing time to correct lens errors is therefore not necessary.
