Description
Canon produced a few different EF 35-105mm standard zoom lenses for their EOS system. The most common versions are the f/3.5-4.5 (introduced 1987, metal mount, often push-pull zoom) and the later f/4.5-5.6 (introduced 1992, plastic mount, lighter, usually rotary zoom, sometimes with USM). Both provided a versatile focal range suitable for general photography, travel, and portraits, serving as popular kit or step-up lenses from the basic 35-80mm. The f/3.5-4.5 version is generally considered to have better build quality.
