Zeiss Lens
The Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 180mm f/2.8 is a legendary telephoto lens, often referred to as the ‘Olympia Sonnar’ due to its use at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Produced for decades in East Germany, it gained a reputation for outstanding sharpness, beautiful bokeh, and excellent performance even wide open. It was most commonly available in mounts for medium format cameras like the Pentacon Six (P6 mount) or Exakta 35mm SLRs, but adapters exist. Later versions featured multicoating (‘MC’) and zebra-striped or all-black barrels. ‘Parasoleil’ refers to the included lens hood.
