The Carl Zeiss Planar T* 50mm f/1.4 is one of the most famous and highly regarded standard lenses ever made, likely referring to the version for the Contax/Yashica (C/Y) SLR mount. Known for its exceptional sharpness, beautiful bokeh, and excellent color rendition thanks to the T* multicoating, it was a benchmark lens for decades. The Planar design (a symmetric double-Gauss derivative) provides excellent correction across the frame. It existed in both AE (earlier) and MM (later, supporting more auto modes) versions for the C/Y mount.
