The Canon FD 35mm f/2 S.S.C. was a highly regarded wide-standard prime lens in the Canon FD lineup, introduced in 1973. It offered a faster maximum aperture than the common f/2.8 or f/3.5 variants, making it excellent for available light photography and providing greater control over depth of field. Many photographers favored the 35mm focal length for its natural perspective. This S.S.C. version boasted Super Spectra Coating and often incorporated advanced optical elements like thorium glass (in early versions, mildly radioactive) or concave front elements for superior image quality.
