Description
Sigma produced several versions of a 28-105mm zoom lens for Canon EF mount over the years. A version with an f/2.8-4 maximum aperture offered a significant advantage over typical kit lenses, being a full stop faster at the wide end (f/2.8 vs f/4 or f/4.5). This made it more capable in lower light and allowed for shallower depth of field. Sigma’s ‘Aspherical’ versions aimed to improve image quality. While third-party lenses, Sigma zooms from this era often provided good value, offering faster apertures or longer ranges than first-party alternatives at competitive prices.
