Description
The Yashica Electro 35 GT was a popular aperture-priority automatic exposure 35mm rangefinder camera produced from 1970. It was a variant of the original Electro 35, featuring a black finished body (‘GT’ possibly for ‘Gold-plated contacts’ and ‘Touring’). It’s renowned for its sharp Yashinon DX 45mm f/1.7 lens and its unique ‘Electro’ system using electromagnetic shutter release and stepless shutter speeds controlled by a CdS meter. The ‘Copal Elec’ shutter offered speeds from LT (approx 30s) to 1/500s. It’s a classic 70s rangefinder, appreciated for its lens quality and ease of use.
