Description
This is a Carl Zeiss Sonnar 135mm f/4 telephoto lens designed for the Contax rangefinder mount, also compatible with Soviet Kiev rangefinders which copied the Contax mount. The ‘Zeiss-Opton’ marking indicates production in West Germany (Oberkochen) shortly after WWII (late 1940s – early 1950s), before the naming disputes with East German Zeiss Jena were fully resolved. The ‘Red T’ signifies Zeiss’s single-layer anti-reflective coating applied post-war. It’s a compact, high-quality telephoto lens known for its sharpness and Sonnar rendering.
